Practical guide

Page extraction compared with splitting

Extraction collects selected pages from different parts of a document into one new PDF. You can mix individual pages and ranges, such as 2, 5, 9-11, and pages are copied in the order entered.

Splitting creates a separate file for every range; extraction combines the selection into one result. Duplicate numbers can intentionally repeat a page, so confirm the final page count.

Selection format
2, 5, 9-11
Output
One PDF of selected pages
Page order
Follows the entered order

Good use cases

  • Collecting signature and terms pages
  • Saving selected tables and appendices
  • Avoiding disclosure of unrelated pages

Checks after download

  • Look for missing or repeated pages
  • Confirm no sensitive content remains
  • Decide whether document-level outlines are required

📝How to Use

  1. Drag and drop the single PDF file from which you want to extract pages, or click to browse.
  2. Enter the desired page index numbers or ranges separated by commas. (e.g. 1, 3, 5-8)
  3. Verify that your specified page numbers fall within the document's total page count.
  4. Click the [Extract PDF Pages] button.
  5. The extracted copy will download automatically as extracted-pages.pdf.

⚠️Caveats

  • Spaces in the page entry input are automatically trimmed and ignored.
  • Extraction does not alter the original PDF. It creates a brand-new PDF containing only the chosen pages.
  • For security, you can isolate only the relevant pages before sharing a confidential report.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Q.What happens if I enter duplicate page numbers or mix their sequence?

Pages will be copied in the exact sequence you specified. For instance, entering "3, 1, 3" generates a new 3-page document containing page 3 first, then page 1, and page 3 again.

Q.Will bookmarks or interactive form fields be kept?

Page-level annotations and hyperlinks are fully copied. However, document-level properties like parent table of contents bookmarks might be lost during individual page copying.

Q.Why does extraction fail on certain secured PDFs?

PDFs that have write protection or printing restrictions cannot be read by browser-side canvas/document engines. You must use an unrestricted version of the document to perform extraction.
